A cross in the light and people going toward it

Please note: This is my personal web site! I am not a Pastor of a Church, nor am I a Theologian.  I am lady of faith that desires to share my perspective and experiences in my Walk of Faith.

The 1st Amendment to the Bill of Rights, of The United States of America, states, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances".

There is no government imposed religion in the United States.

I do not believe Our Walk of Faith is expected to be perfect. We walk by God's grace. He gave up His only son for the forgiveness of our sins, so that we might have eternal life. I BELIEVE that ones' WALK is meant to be ever evolving; collecting information, seeking answers to questions, and learning by experience. My journey in life has been full of experiences.  These experiences have helped me develop my faith and belief in God, my principles, moral character, and integrity. I know that God isn't done with me yet, He is still developing my spiritual maturity and will be until I am called home. Please contact me with your questions.

Man looking into the sky

Do you know Christ?
Would you like to invite Him into your life?

It's really not hard. You don't have to go to a mountain top and yell, find a burning bush, or worry about being perfect.

The God with whom I have a personal relationship with, loves all of us. He wants us to walk in His Grace and share eternal life with us. God created us in His own image, but He gave us a free will or freedom of choice.  So sometimes we choose to disobey God and go our own way intent on doing things the way we want too.  When we do this we separate ourselves from God.

God knows we are human, that we sin and do wrong things using our own free will. It is for our sin that Jesus Christ died on the Cross. Christ rose from the grave. This debt that Jesus paid for us, gives us forgiveness of our Sins and eternal life.

  • Ephesians 2:8-9  "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."

We must accept and know Jesus as personal our Savior.

  • John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

  • John 14:6  Jesus said: "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me."

  • Romans 6:4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order the, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

This is a good way of beginning your journey with God. There are many fine churches across American and around the world that will be happy to help you get started in your Walk of Faith. God does not have barriers, He welcomes all, regardless of age, gender, race, or wealth.

Faith grows with constant care....

Picture of me when I was 3 years old  My walk in faith started, when I was a little girl ,around 3 years old. My parents attended a Methodist church in Westerville, Ohio at the time. I was always around adults as I grew up and so it was natural for me to refuse to go to Sunday school.  My parents were fine with that and so was the Pastor because I would sit quietly and look at the stained glass windows in the church and wonder about them.

Around seven years oldWe went to church every Sunday since I can remember no matter where we were. I silently committed my life to Christ when I was 7 years old. I didn't say anything to anyone because most people didn't believe that little children really understood such things.  Knowing God loved me was all I needed, my childlike faith was never complicated, I just knew God loved me enough that He gave His only Son for me. To me God was all around me and if Christ walked into a room I was ready! I knew He would be a man that didn't have to say anything because as soon as He walked in there would be a unique, quiet, reserved, magnificent power, when I felt His presence.  It was that firm belief that helped me get through the trials and tribulations of childhood, becoming a teenager, and then an adult.

It was about then, age 7, I started singing and playing Gospel music, hymns, and other religious music. Most days, after school, I played the piano and sang for hours. I remember mother telling me after I was married, she always knew when I had a rough day at school because I would come home and play and sing with loudness and then eventually things would start to mellow out and they were more peaceful. WOW....she understood, I didn't know that when I was young. The lady that impacted me the most when it came to music and faith, was Frenchie Yeager, a lovely woman in Millersburg, Ohio.  She taught me so much. I learned to sing and play from the heart.  I felt and believed what I sang, I still do.

When I was in 9th grade I formally announced that I understood that Christ died for my salvation, was baptized, and dedicated my life to Christ, in public. This great day occurred in Lancaster, Ohio.

High School  In high school   my family moved to Sunbury, Ohio and I attended Sunbury Methodist Church.  It was a beautiful, grand, old church, on a little bit of a hill, with the Pastor's family home on one side, and the cemetery to the back of the church.  It had some of the most beautiful wood and stained glass windows I had ever seen.  I joined the adult choir because I had already been singing forever and the choir director had heard me at school functions so he knew I was capable. Pastor LeGrow was a wonderful godly man, I learned so much from him and missed him a lot throughout the years when I moved around the country. The most powerful thing I remember from Pastor LeGrow was never turn people away from the church. I remember near Easter time, Pastor gave a message. The message was about the importance of remembering that it didn't matter how poor a person was, what they had to wear to church, where they sat in church, who they knew, or how often they came to church.  What was important? That the church doors were always open and that the congregation was willing and eager to share the message of God's Grace.

Me today  Today I believe we make things to complicated as adults.  God loves us as we are, unconditionally. He made us, we are His children. It's as simple as that.  We forget that sometimes when life is tough, or scary. It doesn't matter where we are or what we are doing, He is still there for us. We don't have to impress people with eloquent words, we need to carry our faith and beliefs inside of us and we can share with others just by the way we carry ourselves in our lives.

We can't force people to believe in Christianity nor is Christianity a gift we can give a person. Becoming a Christian is something a person must want to do, so it our responsibility to share "our journey in faith" with others so they will to start their own journey.  How we live our lives and present ourselves everyday outside of church is as important as how we conduct ourselves in church.

  • John 14:6  Jesus said: "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me."

  • Ephesians 2:8-9  "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."

  • Mark 10:43-45 " Not so with you.  Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.  For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many."

I believe it is important to respect a person's choice of religion. As I think about Christ I am reminded that He chose disciples that were ordinary men, of all walks of life.  Among the twelve disciples there were fishermen, a tax collector, and a revolutionary. Disciples today are of all walks of life and I believe we must remember we are still ordinary people.

We attend church at First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Fort Wayne, IN .  Our Pastor, is Neil W. Allen. He has been the Senior Pastor at our church for the past 10 years. Pastor Allen and Nora, if you are visiting this page, please notice this is the only page with a header that has a CAT!

Attending a church sometimes is hard to do, but it's important.  If we have children it is our responsibility to bring them to God, Matthew 19:14, Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

One of my favorite times in our church is when all the children have a few minutes to enjoy a story or puppet show during the church service.  It's a wonderful way to show our children how important they are during the adult service and allows them a way of participating in a positive way.  This only takes a few minutes and then after this the children normally go to another room for stories and more.

Church is a place to gain sp ritual growth and strength, make friends that believe as we do, and have a place of comfort to go to.

Praying hands and a Bible

"The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective"
(James 5:16b, NIV)

What is prayer?  To me it's a way communicating with God. It's our direct line to God. Talking to God should be like chatting with our best friend.

This is what I believe about prayer:

  • I believe that God loves to hear from us no matter what the subject might be. Talk to God about everything
  • No matter where you are our what you are doing
  • Prayer is not meant to be complicated; speak from your heart, speak what's on your mind
